Articulation 0 / 4 joints
Place up to four joints manually. Tap the actual neck, waist, or other seam. Automatic spacing is disabled: it placed hinges inside the wrong body parts.
Export Quality
Precision CSG cuts the source triangles directly and creates smooth analytic hinge geometry. Cutter diameter is the actual cut diameter. Nearby hands and other parts outside that circle are not cut. Small cuts can leave the body connected; inspect and resize if needed. It loads an external open-source CAD kernel, so an internet connection is needed for this mode. Your STL is processed locally, not uploaded. Other modes remain offline.
Precision CSG uses direct mesh Booleans instead of voxel reconstruction. For now it supports pin hinges; ball joints and fragile input meshes use the previous offline modes. This is a new experimental kernel and must be checked in a slicer before printing.
Precision CSG · bounded cutter
The source mesh is cut with a finite circular cutter and joined to smooth parametric hinges; no original-body voxel reconstruction. When the cutter does not reach the full seam, parts may stay connected; increase Cutter diameter and check again. Precision CSG requires an online kernel load and may use significant memory on large phone STLs. Original triangle-sampling checks prevent exporting a model with unrelated exterior damage.
PlasticFlex 1.0.6 is an independently written experimental prototype for personal use. It is not affiliated with STLFLIX or PrintPal.

ROTATE VIEW · joint and cutter together
Tap the surface you want resting on the bed.
▤ Place Model on Bed
STEP 2 OF 3 · Position your model
Choose Lay Flat for a quick start or Lay on Face and tap the surface that belongs on the plate. Use the rotations below for adjustments.
Choose a method, then check the model from the side.
Rotate the real model, not just the view. All triangles keep their detail. Existing joints follow the model.
Or choose an exact rotation. The model automatically drops back onto the plate after every move.

Step 1 of 3 · Model setup
First, lay your model on the bed
Before adding moving joints, decide how this STL will sit on your printer's build plate. You can keep its current position or let PlasticFlex guide you through turning it.
Orienting changes the model's position, not its surface detail. You can reopen ▤ Bed anytime.
Step 3 of 3 · Ready to create
Great! Your model is ready for joints.
The lowest point is at the build-plate height (Z = 0). Make sure the orientation looks right; you can return to ▤ Bed whenever you need to adjust it.

PlasticFlex • Quick Start
Open STL or use the sample Flexi Worm already on screen.
Automatic setup guide: Every time you import an STL, the first screen asks whether your model is already flat. Select “Help me lay it flat” for guided orientation or confirm its position to continue to joints.
Place on Bed: Select ▤ Bed, then Lay Flat, rotate X/Y/Z, or choose Lay on Face and tap the surface that should rest on the print plate. Drop to Bed sets the lowest point on Z=0. Undo Rotation or Restore Imported Orientation if needed. This rotates actual STL triangles without remeshing; any joints already on the model move with it.
Tap Place Joint, then tap the part of the model where it should bend. The editor chooses the model’s longest axis for the cut and estimates the local section center. Use axis buttons to override it.
Choose Hinge or Ball. Use Move for XYZ, Size for cutter/joint diameter, Rotate for the first angled view, and Tilt for the perpendicular view. Rotate and Tilt automatically center the camera, and both have push/pull controls. New hinge pins start sideways across the model. Use the Sideways Pin button to correct joints saved with an old orientation. Numeric controls remain in Joint Settings.
Place up to four joints. Select them from the list or by tapping their on-model labels. Don't overlap mechanisms. Use Build Preview to inspect the actual cuts.
Choose Check Cut to build and review the model. In Precision CSG, the actual cut uses the diameter shown. A narrow cutter may leave material connected beyond its edge, so inspect the cut and adjust it as needed. Use Back to Edit to restore the uncut view while preserving joint positions, then adjust and cut again. Use Inspect Inside to see a colored 2D cross-section computed from the actual edited geometry; move the slider along the pin. Only then choose Export STL. Always inspect the slicer result; a test print is required for fit.
Important: Precision CSG (requires internet) uses a bounded circular cut for pin hinges. Nearby surfaces outside the selected cutter diameter should remain unchanged. Inspect every cut before printing. The previous Exact Exterior mode keeps the source STL surface intact beyond the cut and compact hinge envelope; it refuses to export a detected open or nonmanifold joint instead of falling back to a rough mesh. Some placements or multiple joints remain experimental and may fail validation. Legacy mode remeshes a much wider band around the joint. Compatibility mode remeshes the entire model and becomes visibly blocky. Use a watertight model, inspect it in Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer, and make a small trial print. Don't assume fit or mechanical strength without testing.
